What it is
AWS provides the foundational infrastructure for much of the internet. It offers granular, highly scalable services ranging from raw compute power (EC2) and storage (S3) to managed databases (RDS) and machine learning platforms (Bedrock). It requires significant architectural knowledge to configure and secure properly.
When you would use it
You use AWS when you need enterprise-grade, highly scalable cloud infrastructure and possess the engineering expertise required to configure and manage complex networking and server environments.
Common operations
- Hosting scalable enterprise web applications on EC2 and RDS.
- Storing very large datasets and media files securely in S3 buckets.
