Load balancer
Published Updated
What is Load balancer?
A traffic distributor that sends incoming requests to available copies of your application.
A load balancer chooses which running app copy receives each request. For example, a busy shop can spread checkout requests across three servers and avoid a server that fails health checks, which are probes that test whether it can respond. Shared order data must remain consistent across those copies.
When you would use it
Use it when one app copy cannot handle traffic or you need to keep serving requests while another copy is unavailable.
Common operations
- Check which app copies are healthy.
- Distribute incoming requests across available copies.
