Message queue

What is Message queue?
A holding place for messages that another program picks up and processes when it has capacity.
A producer adds a message; a worker, a program that processes queued work, handles it later. For example, signup adds a welcome-email task and a worker sends it. Many queues can deliver the same message again after a failure, so make processing safe to repeat. Ordering depends on the queue.
How it relates to Orbit
Orbit's Prompt Queue holds prompts for approval and runs approved work as execution slots become available.
When you would use it
Use it to absorb bursts of work or separate accepting a request from completing its slower tasks.
Common operations
- Add tasks to the queue.
- Confirm successful processing and handle repeated failures.
