Microservices

What is Microservices?

An app design made of separately running services that own focused responsibilities and can be deployed independently.

For example, a shop can run checkout and inventory as separate services with their own data ownership. Each can change or scale independently, but their network calls can fail and their data can disagree temporarily. Splitting an app adds deployment, monitoring, and coordination work; smaller code folders alone do not create microservices.

When you would use it

Use it when independent ownership, releases, or scaling justify the added operational complexity.

Common operations

  • Define each service responsibility and data owner.
  • Deploy services independently and monitor their communication.
