Being the designated person or team member who responds to production problems during a specific time window, often outside normal working hours.

What it is

On-call coverage means someone is responsible for reacting to alerts, outages, or urgent requests. The goal is to keep the service healthy and make sure someone is available when things break.

When you would use it

You use on-call when a system must be watched continuously and rapid human response matters.
